Level Up - Issue #100

Level Up

July 11 · Issue #100 · View online

Level Up delivers a curated newsletter for leaders in tech. A project by Ideal for busy people such as Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, VPs of Engineering, CTOs and more.

The Magic of Round Numbers
Firstly I want to thank you for subscribing to Level Up. My hope is that you find at least one interesting article in each issue. Secondly, we’ve hit Issue #100 🥳🎉 and it’s hard not to reflect on such a number. The number 100 reminds me that all people have biases when it comes to auspicious numbers and dates such as the end of a quarter, end of a year, or round numbers like silver (25) or gold (50) anniversaries. Even though objectively 100 should be no different from 101 or 102, what’s wrong with using these milestones as a reminder to reflect or try something different.
When I started this newsletter back in August 2019, I wasn’t quite sure where this would go. If you’ve started a newsletter, podcast, or blog of your own, you might understand the challenge of keeping a consistent rhythm - finding time on a regular basis to keep it up. I wasn’t quite sure of how regular I was going to send this newsletter, but like a great systems thinker, I was seeking feedback to know what I should amplify (do more of) or dampen (do less of). I’ve listened to feedback as the newsletter started and Level Up feels likes it’s the right investment of time, impact and hopefully you also see the value it brings to your inbox once a week. I haven’t missed a single issue on a weekly basis yet, and I hope it continues for at least the near future.
🎉🎉🎉 To celebrate Issue #100, you are invited to a €100 discount (the biggest discount ever) on every course at The Tech Lead Academy (valid for one week only until Jul 18, 2021). Use the coupon code: LEVELUP100 to level up your time management, systems thinking or communication skills.
I hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter! Share it with a friend or colleague if you find it helpful, or drop me an email about topics you’d like to hear about in future editions.
