LeadDev Berlin Recap
The past two weeks have been extremely busy, such that I haven’t had a moment to reflect on the events. I find a useful leadership habit is to pause and reflect. Last week I was hosting LeadDev Berlin in my home city and was fortunate to welcome 700+ people to the conference. It was my first time hosting and I want to thank the fantastic LeadDev team for both inviting me and supporting me as the host. I’ve given many talks at different LeadDev conferences in the past, but it was my first time hosting and wanted to make sure that participants and speakers had the best experience.
As the host, I had a “peak behind the curtain” of what it means to organise a conference. I can even better appreciate the effort it takes to run an in-person event (and know that I personally don’t want to run the logistics side 😅!) Well done to all event organisers out there 🎉 From my perspective, I felt the agenda we had programmed turned out extremely balanced - hitting a broad range of topics that would be of interest to the broad audience such as talks on lessons learned scaling organisations, remote/hybrid work, leading as an introvert, navigating differences between people and so much more.
I spoke with many attendees at the network mixer and the breaks and it felt like people had lots of new ideas, perspectives and actions to try when they went back to their workplace. That’s a great outcome for me.
If you’re interested in the talks, bookmark the conference page as the team will be publishing talks in the near future. Attendees will get free access and I believe they are offering a digital pass for those who weren’t able to make it.
I hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter! Share it with a friend or colleague if you find it helpful, or drop me an email about topics you’d like to hear about in future editions.

The fab @patkua opening #LeadDevBerlin for the first time in 3 years in a PACKED room ✨ Still not 100% if he accidentally or purposely said “LeadDev 2020”, but he’s right in any case: it’s the conference we should have had already 💙 https://t.co/Vuv41Y3tQm
