Level Up delivers a curated newsletter for leaders in tech. A project by Ideal for busy people such as Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, VPs of Engineering, CTOs and more.

If you’re like me, you’re probably struggling with hearing some of the daily news around the world 😕. For me, I find it harder to focus. I also notice my emotions cycle with small ups 😊 and definite downs 🥺. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way. You probably feel it too, and so do your team and colleagues.
For me, pausing deliberately to be grateful for what I have certainly helps. As a leader, I remind myself the responsibility I have. As a leader, your words and actions multiply. You can use these to deliberately create certainty and comfort where you can. This can have a very positive impact on others.
Remind yourself you have this choice in every conversation and interaction. Remind yourself that everyone you interact with will have some stress. Everyone reacts differently to stress. In this difficult time, give people space. Lend people an ear. Focus on what you can influence and and control and do the best for everyone.
In this edition, I’m happy to share a new blog article with leaders about a simple technique I rely on for leaders coping with a crisis. I hope it helps you in your situation, now or in the future.
I hope you enjoy this week’s content. If you find it useful, please forward to someone else and send me feedback.

Hand sanitiser is selling out everywhere. So we have started using our distillery to make Punk Sanitiser. We want to do all we can to help everyone get through this difficult time.
Thanks for making it this far! 🤗
