Level Up - Issue #69

Level Up

December 6 · Issue #69 · View online

Level Up delivers a curated newsletter for leaders in tech. A project by Ideal for busy people such as Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, VPs of Engineering, CTOs and more.

Grounded in gratefulness
Last year I finished the online Yale course, “The Science of Well-Being”. One of the habits that stuck for me was keeping a gratitude journal. This activity has helped me navigate through some of this year’s challenges. And there have been many 😕!
Gratitude and practicing gratitude can help you and your team thrive. There is always more you could do. There are always more issues to address. But you can also celebrate how you’ve progressed, or use gratitude to recognise what you already have.
In this issue I’ve included news of a couple of significant leaders who passed away. It’s sad but also is inevitable. In times of sadness or grief, practicing gratitude might offer you support. Ask questions like:
  • What is one thing you recently received recognition for?
  • What have you learned that has made you grow?
  • What has recently made you laugh or smile?
  • What is it that you can do that others may struggle with?
I hope you enjoy this week’s content. If you find it useful, please forward to someone else and send me feedback. Stay safe and healthy 🙏
The online guided workshop, “Shortcut to Tech Leadership” is all sold out for 2020 but new dates for Q1/2021 are now online 🥳.
